MDC joined Ayala Group-led relief and recovery efforts in Southern Mindanao following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck off the coast of Mindanao on June 8.
As part of the Brigadang Ayala volunteer initiative, MDC deployed volunteer engineers to conduct structural assessments of school buildings in affected communities across General Santos City, South Cotabato, and Sarangani Province. The assessments helped identify potential safety concerns and support the restoration of safe learning environments for students and educators.
MDC also worked alongside Ayala Foundation, local government units, Globe, the Philippine Army, and community organizations in responding to the immediate needs of affected families. The collective effort included rapid community assessments and the distribution of relief assistance to residents impacted by the earthquake.
The initiative brought together volunteers from across the Ayala Group, demonstrating a shared commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild after disasters.
“Volunteering for Brigadang Ayala reminds me that even small acts of service can make a big difference in people’s lives. Being able to help communities in my hometown during a difficult time made the experience even more meaningful,” said MDC Mindanao Project Human Resources Officer Queenxeal Miranda-Asensi, a native of General Santos City.
Through its participation in Brigadang Ayala, MDC continues to support disaster response and recovery efforts, contributing its technical expertise to help communities rebuild safely and strengthen resilience for the future.
