Last March 17, 2023, the MDC Sustainability Council was launched with a Kick-off event at the MDC Penthouse. The council, spearheaded by Commercial Group Head, Engr. Henry Realon is composed of the MDC Management Committee and the Sustainability Steering Committee.
The MDC Sustainability Council will drive the company’s intensified, long-term Sustainability program in support of Ayala Land’s Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) target for 2050. MDC’s three-pronged approach, in support of the company’s future-proofing framework, will involve the creation of strategies aligned with ALI’s long-term Sustainability goals. Furthermore, MDC will intensify this thrust by enhancing and expanding its Sustainability-related services. The council, through its steercom, shall implement transformational programs to integrate the value of Sustainability into the MDC culture.
The event began with a message from MDBI President and COG 3 Head, Engr. Darwin Salipsip, and featured notable virtual talks with Dr. Jayson Ibanez, Director for Research and Conservation of the Philippine Eagle Foundation, and Ms. Trixie Concepcion, Earth Island Institute’s Regional Director for Asia-Pacific.
MDC Architectural and Engineering Division Head, Arch. Jeremy Acosta, articulated the role of MDC and the significance of its contributions to the achievement of ALI’s 2050 target. MDC Sustainability Department Head, Engr. Kim Pomperada, later introduced the steercom members: Bernard Yepes, Milbert Payumo, Eric King, Roland James Arimado, Garry Saunders, Daniel Cruzada, Jowel Alcasid, and their respective teams. The event was capped-off by a stunning black light performance by selected MDC employees and a message from Engr. Henry Realon.
“It is in the MDC spirit that we continue to evolve and make critical decisions that
will transform our Sustainability initiatives into reality. When we positively influence
our business and our people, MDC will continue to thrive and survive the impacts
of climate change and unsustainable practices.” – Engr. Henry Realon
