MDC Group Recognized at the 2026 Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards

MDC Group was recently recognized at the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA) 2026. The ceremony took place on April 23, 2026, during the Philconstruct Luzon Industry Night in Clark, Pampanga.

Organized by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and the American Concrete Institute – Philippines Chapter (ACI), PECCA honors projects that demonstrate innovation and technical skill within the local construction industry.

This year, we received honors in two major categories:

Overall Winner: For the second year in a row, Makati Development Corporation was named the overall recipient, reflecting consistent performance in concrete construction standards.
High-Rise Structures Category: The Park Central Towers won top honors in this category with MDC as the General Contractor, MDBI as the Concrete Contractor, and MCI as the Concrete Supplier.

As winners of the national awards, these entries will move forward to represent the Philippines at the global ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards.

Building Futures: Empowering Indigenous Communities Through Skills Training in Puerto Galera

In a continued effort to promote inclusive development, MDC’s Skills Training and Assessment Unit (STAU), in partnership with Ayala Foundation, Inc., recently conducted a three-day Masonry NC II skills training program for members of the Iraya Mangyan community in Puerto Galera.

The initiative brought together 35 participants, who underwent a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training aimed at strengthening their technical knowledge in masonry. Through guided practical exercises, trainees were able to develop essential construction skills aligned with national competency standards.

The program forms part of a broader effort to equip indigenous communities with livelihood opportunities, enabling them to access more stable sources of income. By enhancing employability through skills development, the initiative also seeks to contribute to the long-term economic growth of the community.

The collaboration underscores a shared commitment between MDC and Ayala Foundation to empower marginalized sectors through education, capacity building, and sustainable development programs.

From Skills to Opportunities: MDC & Ayala Foundation Train Iraya Mangyan Community in Puerto Galera

Thirty-six (36) trainees from the Iraya Mangyan community in Puerto Galera recently completed a three-day Carpentry NC II Training conducted by MDC’s Skills Training and Assessment Unit, in partnership with Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI).

The training program was designed to enhance participants’ technical skills, strengthen their confidence, and open up greater employment opportunities within the construction industry. Through hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations, the trainees gained essential carpentry knowledge and competencies—equipping them to build not only quality structures, but also more secure and promising futures for themselves and their families.

An NC II Competency Assessment will be scheduled to formally evaluate the trainees’ proficiency and certify those who meet the required national standards. A graduation ceremony will follow to recognize their dedication and successful completion of the program.

This initiative forms part of MDC’s continuing nation-building efforts, aligned with the broader commitment of the Ayala Group to create meaningful and inclusive opportunities for communities across the country.

CMSG closes 2025 with multiple SOPI Industrial Safety Awards

MDC’s Construction Methods and Solutions Group (CMSG) closed 2025 on a high note, earning 12 Industrial Safety Awards from the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI) during its 57th National Industrial Safety Conference and 66th Founding Anniversary & National Assembly, held on November 27–28, 2025 in Parañaque City.

Adding to this milestone, Sonny Boy Dimen, MCI Precast ES Manager, was conferred the SOPI Outstanding Safety Practitioner Award, recognizing his exemplary leadership and commitment to workplace safety.

Through its Industrial Safety Awards, SOPI underscores the importance of occupational safety in the manufacturing industry and honors organizations and individuals who demonstrate outstanding efforts and best practices in fostering a safe and healthy work environment.

MDC and MCI successfully pass ISO Recertification Audit

Makati Development Corporation (MDC) and MDC ConQrete, Inc. (MCI) have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to excellence, successfully passing the recertification audit for ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems).

The audit, conducted by TÜV NORD Philippines, Inc. from June 2 to June 5, covered various project sites and confirmed that MDC and MCI’s integrated management system continues to meet the stringent requirements of these internationally recognized standards.

Implementing and maintaining ISO standards strengthens an organization’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes, manage environmental impact responsibly, and ensure the health and safety of its workforce—fostering operational excellence and stakeholder trust.

This milestone reflects MDC and MCI’s strong commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety, as well as their culture of continuous improvement in raising industry standards.

MDBI enters Railway Infrastructure with MMSP Bulk Supply Substation (BSS) Groundbreaking

On May 5, 2025, MDBI Construction Corp. participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bulk Supply Substation (BSS) of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) held in Valenzuela City.
The milestone event was attended by key officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), led by Secretary Vince Dizon, Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), MMSP Project Manager Oriental Consultants Global, and officials from the Japanese and French embassies.

The BSS will connect to the Meralco grid and step down electricity to power the East Valenzuela Depot, various subway stations, and the full MMSP railway network. MDBI is collaborating closely with Colas Rail—sister company of Bouygues Bâtiment International (BBI) and the design and construction lead for the BSS—alongside Colas’ partners Egis and Hitachi. Mitsubishi Corporation serves as the overall General Contractor for the project.

MDBI’s involvement marks the MDC Group’s entry into the railway infrastructure sector and underscores the company’s continued commitment to nation-building through the advancement of modern, sustainable transportation networks in Metro Manila.

MDC garners local and international recognition for innovations in Finance, Sustainability, and Concrete Construction

MDC recently earned several prestigious awards for its groundbreaking initiatives across Finance, Sustainability, and Concrete Construction.

At the 2025 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, MDC’s KaAgaPay Vendor Financing Program won a Gold Stevie for Innovative Achievement in Finance. Additionally, Ayala Land and MDC’s joint Circular Business Model, which incorporates plastic waste and steel scraps into construction projects—received a Bronze Stevie in the Innovation in Sustainability – Reuse and Recycle category. The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards honor innovation across all sectors and are open to organizations in 29 countries throughout the region.

On the local front, MDC achieved top honors at the 2025 Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA), organized by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and the American Concrete Institute – Philippines Chapter (ACI). MDC was named Overall Champion, after securing wins in two major categories. MDBI’s VITRO Sta. Rosa Hyperscale Data Center Project won in the Low-Rise Structures category, while MDC’s Alveo Financial Tower Project triumphed in the High-Rise Structures category.

PECCA recognizes outstanding concrete projects that exemplify innovation and excellence in design and construction. As Overall Champion, MDC will be one of the Philippine representatives at the 2025 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards—a global competition to be held in October.

Gardencourt Residences Molave achieves 5 Million Safe Person Hours

Last March 21, 2025, Gardencourt Residences celebrated the achievement of 5 Million Safe Person Hours. The ceremony was attended by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) representative Engr. Elmer F. Ducusin together with the Gardencourt Residences Molave ACE Team. Certificates of Recognition and Appreciation were awarded to employees, workers, and subcontractors who contributed to the achievement.

Gardencourt Residences Molave is a 17-story residential development comprising 134 units, located within a two-hectare parkside estate by Ayala Land Premier. The property is part of a master-planned community featuring five cascading residential towers that seamlessly frame a 6,000-square-meter landscaped courtyard.

1st Surveillance Audit with Zero Minor and Major Non-Conformances conducted by TÜV Nord Philippines
last March 13 to 14, 2025. The audit underscores MCI’s commitment to quality in concrete for structures
cast in situ, precast structures, and structural precast products for buildings and civil engineering structures.
This achievement reflects the team’s ongoing efforts to improve systems and processes while maintaining quality excellence.
The success was made possible through the collective effort and dedication of the MCI Corporate, CBP Arca, and MDC Technology Center Precast Plant teams during the audit.
